AMKCO Ball Screen – Anti-Blinding System
The AMKCO Ball Screen is an effective anti-blinding solution designed to improve screening efficiency in applications where near-size particles or agglomerated materials commonly block the mesh openings.
Installed beneath the primary screen deck, this system uses bouncing elastomer balls that repeatedly strike the underside of the screen — helping dislodge trapped particles, lift sluggish material, and restore consistent flow across the screening surface.
Ideal for both dry and moist products, the Ball Screen is widely used in powder, starch, mineral, and food applications where screen blockage can impact throughput or product quality.
Working Principle
The Ball Screen system consists of a support screen deck mounted just below the main working screen. On this layer, multiple elastomer balls freely bounce in response to the machine’s vibration.
These bouncing balls perform three key actions:
- Slightly flex the mesh wires, dislodging fine or sticky particles
- Agitate the screen, reducing buildup and clumping
- Lift the material momentarily, helping it spread and pass through more efficiently
The result is increased throughput, fewer stoppages, and longer screen life.
Product Feature
Versatile Ball Materials
Available in rubber, silicone, neoprene, polyurethane, EPDM, and nitrile — with options compliant to FDA and cGMP standards for food and pharma.
Easy Retrofit Design
Can be installed in most AMKCO or other circular separators with a ball tray support frame.
Continuous Self-Cleaning Action
Reduces blinding by automatically clearing near-size particles and sticky residues with every vibration.
Product Advantage
Less Downtime from Screen Clogging
Prevents buildup of agglomerates and near-size particles, especially in fine mesh applications.
Improved Screening Efficiency
Keeps product flowing across the screen surface — ensuring higher capacity and consistent output.
Extended Screen Life
Reduces abrasive wear from buildup and manual cleaning, preserving the mesh longer.
FAQ
What types of materials benefit from a ball screen system?
It’s ideal for dry powders, sticky granules, or fine materials that tend to block screen openings or agglomerate.
Can the balls damage the screen?
No. The balls are made from flexible elastomers and bounce gently — they’re designed to flex, not stress, the screen.
Is it food or pharma compliant?
Yes. Ball options are available in FDA– and cGMP-compliant materials like silicone and nitrile.
Can this be added to an existing separator?
Yes. If your separator includes or can accommodate a support tray, the ball screen system can be retrofitted.
How do I choose the right ball material?
It depends on your product. Contact AMKCO Siam for guidance.
